“Unlocking Innovation” at Agile Australia

I moved to Australia at the end of 2012, both anxious and excited about the possibilities of a new life. On the professional front, new possibilities would not have crystallised without the magic that has been happening every year at the AgileAus conference.

And I know this from experience. Let me go back to 2014 for a moment.  “Two business analysts walk into a bar…” those were the opening words of Pete Cohen’s presentation called “A light saber for your disruptive toolbelt: the Business Model Canvas” at the 2014 edition. The presentation is still to this date a great introduction to the Business Model Canvas and triggered for me a series of events and meetings that opened my eyes to the strategic role of innovation and shifted my whole career towards strategy & innovation consulting.

A few years have gone by since that initial spark. Now I advise Fortune 500 and leading European companies on the development of their innovation ecosystem, I am the co-author of a book, The Invincible Company, in the Strategyzer series, I was shortlisted for a Thinkers50 strategy award in 2021. And then, in a funny life twist, I was asked to be a keynote speaker on the main stage of the AgileAustralia conference. Back to where it all started.

I guess you can now understand why the opportunity to share some of my key learnings on corporate innovation at Agile Australia was so meaningful to me.

Below are three extracts from this keynote at AgileAustralia, each covering one of the key questions that unlock innovation in large organisations

What type of innovation are you talking about?

How do you get more transformative innovation?

Where to start?
